OOCL launches Transpacific Latin Pacific 8 (TLP8) to strength express linkage between Asia and Mexico.

Inaugural voyage: The first vessel departed on August 20, 2025, from Shanghai.

Port rotation: Shanghai → Qingdao → Ensenada → Manzanillo → Yokohama → Shanghai, covering key ports in China and Mexico.

Transit time advantage: The sailing duration from Qingdao to Ensenada is approximately 16 days, and around 20 days from Qingdao to Manzanillo, offering a significant improvement in efficiency compared to traditional routes.

Strategic importance: This new route complements the existing TLP series (TLP1/2/5/6) and enhances direct maritime connectivity between Asia and Mexico’s emerging markets.

The TLP8 route contributes to a substantial reduction in transportation time and logistics costs, delivering more efficient, reliable, and professional logistics services to customers across China, South Korea, and Mexico, thereby promoting bilateral economic cooperation and enterprise development.

The Port of Ensenada: It is situated along the Pacific coast in northwestern Mexico and maintains shipping connections with 64 ports across 28 countries. The direct sailing time from China to Ensenada is approximately 20–22 days, with no need for transshipment via the Panama Canal.

The Port of Manzanillo: located in the state of Colima, is the largest port on Mexico's Pacific coast. In 2024, its container throughput reached 4 million TEUs, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 2.2%, and ranking it as the third-largest container port in Latin America. A major expansion project, scheduled from 2024 to 2030 with an estimated investment of USD 3 billion, aims to position Manzanillo as the leading container port in Latin America by 2030.
